Finalsan Herbicide is a Reduced Risk, OMRI Listed (for organic use) patented fast-acting weed, grass, algae, lichen, and moss killer. Using a specially formulated, non-staining, ammoniated soap of fatty acids, Finalsan is a nonselective herbicide that controls or suppresses many common annual, biennial, and perennial weeds.
Mode of Action
Herbicidal soaps penetrate the waxy cuticle of plants, causing the plant to dehydrate and die. Free fatty acids accumulate in plant cells and cause intracellular damage leading to cell collapse. Activity is non-selective and will kill plants the soap comes into contact with, but will not translocate to underground portions of the plant or harm the bark of mature, woody plants.
Finalsan is effective on annual bluegrass, chickweed, corn spurry, dandelion, groundsel, lamb’s-quarters, large crabgrass, mouse-eared chickweed, mustards, plantain, redroot pigweed, round leaved mallow, sheep sorrel, shepherd’s-purse, stinkweed, thistle, moss, algae, and lichens.
Finalsan can be used around ornamental flowers, mature shrubs and trees; spot treatment in lawns bordering garden areas; bark mulch; around planters, containers, raised beds and other structures holding flowers, trees, shrubs and vegetables; and in planting beds prior to planting grass, flowers or vegetables. It is also suitable for use around field-grown vegetables and fruits; trees and shrubs; and on roofs, decks, patios, walks, bricks, and cement. Finalsan can even be used in cool weather. Areas can be planted five days after treatment.
Finalsan is exempt from the requirement for a tolerance when used in or on all food commodities, which allows for flexibility when exporting to a variety of international markets. Finalsan also leaves no harmful residue in the soil. Finalsan won’t stain bricks, concrete or asphalt and people and pets can reenter area once spray dries.
